Fairfax Audubon
The goal of Fairfax Audubon is to involve all communities in Fairfax in nature enjoyment, conservation, and restoration for the benefit of birds, other wildlife, and people. Through educational programs, citizen science projects, and advocacy efforts, we further our mission. We picture a world in which people, animals, and their habitats coexist peacefully.
While our Audubon at Home program encourages home and other land owners to create wildlife-friendly habitat on their properties, our education programs offer workshops and classes on a variety of birding and other natural history topics. We invite the public on field trips and bird walks so that we can foster an appreciation for the outdoor activities Fairfax has to offer.
Our understanding of Fairfax County’s bird and wildlife population trends is aided by counts and surveys sponsored by ASNV. In order to provide effective stewardship of these populations and their habitats, we concurrently collaborate with other conservation organizations and land managers.
Our advocacy work aims to change public policies and business practices to address problems that affect wildlife, habitats, and ecosystems.
